Recap: North Broward Prep Eagles vs. Cypress Bay Lightning
The North Broward Prep Eagles were the 47-31 winner over the Cypress Bay Lightning when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. North Broward Prep lost to Cypress Bay on the road by a decisive 70-54 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, North Broward Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Cypress Bay is ranked 76th).
Despite the loss, North Broward Prep still got an impressive performance from Alexa Schwartz, who scored 21 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Sammy Edelson, who scored 6 points along with 4 steals.
Peyton Looky was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 27 points along with 6 rebounds. The game was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Gonano, who scored 12 points.
North Broward Prep's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Cypress Bay, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Broward Prep will take on Schoolhouse Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Schoolhouse Prep is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Cypress Bay, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Pembroke Pines Charter at 6:00 p.m.
