Basketball Recap: Hilmar's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Hughson came into Thursday's contest looking for another win against Hilmar, but Aaron Solorio wouldn't allow it. The Hilmar Yellowjackets walked away with a 60-48 victory over the Hughson Huskies on Thursday thanks in part to Solorio, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played.

Xavier Silveira was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 16 points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (two).

Despite the loss, Hughson still got an impressive performance from Jackson Gehrke, who went 8 for 12 en route to 22 points and eight boards. With that strong performance, Gehrke is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Riley Clark, who posted seven points.

The win was the third in a row for Hilmar, bringing their record for this year to 7-13. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Hughson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

Coincidentally, Hilmar and Hughson will both be playing Ripon the next time they take the court. Hilmar will host Ripon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Hughson will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
