Baseball Game Preview: Springfield Yellow Jackets vs. White House-Heritage Patriots

Springfield is 2-8 against White House-Heritage since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Springfield will challenge White House-Heritage at 6:30 p.m.

Springfield's last matchup with Liberty Creek could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Thursday. Springfield came up short against Liberty Creek, falling 10-4. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kason Woodson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Timothy Bush also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for White House-Heritage, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They blew past Portland 8-1 on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Patriots as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Colton Moore looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Justin Smith was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Waggoner, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

White House-Heritage's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Springfield suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to White House-Heritage when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Springfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
