Basketball Recap: Mason Kitterman and Gage Baker Secure Win for Blackford

After losing to Mississinewa the last time they met, Blackford decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Blackford Bruins sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 victory over the Mississinewa Indians on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bruins have posted since December 23, 2023.

Blackford was led to victory by Gage Baker and Mason Kitterman. Baker went 9 for 15 on his way to 21 points and three steals, while Kitterman went 6 of 8 en route to 18 points and six rebounds. Baker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amarian Leggett, who posted 13 points.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rayveon Fetz, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 20 points and seven assists. Another player making a difference was Kiontaye Woods, who went 5 for 7 en route to 12 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks.

Blackford's record is now 7-5. As for Mississinewa, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Blackford didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-44 victory against Winchester Community on the 18th. As for Mississinewa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-43 win against Wabash on the 21st.
