Recap: Glendale Vikings vs. Williamsburg Blue Pirates
The Glendale Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 32-31 to Williamsburg. While losing is never fun, Glendale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 656th, while Williamsburg is ranked 259th).
Glendale lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Joey Kitko, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Lukehart, who scored four points along with three steals.
Glendale struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Glendale's defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 4-9. As for Williamsburg, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Glendale will head out on the road to face off against West Branch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Branch has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 898 points over their last 11 matches. As for Williamsburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Juniata Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Juniata Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Williamsburg likes a good challenge.
