Basketball Recap: University Comes Up Short

University entered their contest against Venice on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The University Wildcats were dealt a 71-37 defeat at the hands of the Venice Gondoliers. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Gondoliers from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jonah Hansen, who posted 11 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Uleses Henderson, who had six points and five rebounds.

University's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-7. As for Venice, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-10.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Palisades the next time they take the court. University will host Palisades at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Venice will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
