Soccer Game Preview: Oak Grove vs. Prospect

The Oak Grove Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Prospect Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Oak Grove is looking for their season's first win.

Oak Grove came up short against Piedmont Hills on Wednesday, falling 8-1. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 5-1.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Prospect was not quite Del Mar's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Dons by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 714th, while the Dons are ranked 285th).

Prospect's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1-2 and their overall record down to 4-7-4. As for Oak Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.

Oak Grove suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Prospect in their previous meeting two weeks ago. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Oak Grove was down 5-0.
