Softball Recap: Whitehall Comes Up Short

Whitehall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Oakridge Eagles, falling 11-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent loss being a 13-3 defeat on May 12th.

Beth Leatrea spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and eight unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Janie Fagan made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Whitehall's loss dropped their record down to 11-22. As for Oakridge, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-5.

Oakridge has already played their next matchup, a 4-1 defeat against North Muskegon on the 30th. Hopefully Whitehall paid attention to the Eagles' contest: the next time they hit the field , they'll take on the Eagles at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.
