Baseball Game Preview: Northwood Rangers vs. Danbury Lakers

The Northwood Rangers will square off against the Danbury Lakers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Northwood made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Toledo Christian, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Rangers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rangers have suffered since April 16, 2024.

Evan Rodriguez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Zuraski, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Danbury came up short against Calvert on Wednesday, falling 11-1.

Danbury saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Shepherd, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Danbury has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Northwood, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
