Baseball Recap: Mt. Hope Huskies vs. Barrington Eagles
Mt. Hope was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 7-3 to the Barrington Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 last Saturday.
Mt. Hope got a good showing from Jack Thompson, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits.
At the plate, Mt. Hope saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trace Dubois, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Dubois snagged this season. Another was Brian Abbruzzi, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Mt. Hope's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Barrington, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-0.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mt. Hope is set to challenge their familiar foe North Kingstown at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Barrington will square off against rival Westerly at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
