Basketball Recap: Gospel Light Christian Find Success

Asheboro Hybrid Academy came into Thursday's game looking for another win against Gospel Light Christian, but Maggie Jo Church wouldn't allow it. Gospel Light Christian took down the Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors 52-36 on Thursday thanks in part to Church, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last nine games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Hannah Mills, who posted two points and nine rebounds. Those nine boards gave her a new career-high.

Defeat or not, Asheboro Hybrid Academy got some senior leadership from McKenna Voncannon and Emily West. Voncannon dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while West earned 13 points.

Gospel Light Christian's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-11.

Gospel Light Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Veritas Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Veritas Christian Academy will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Gospel Light Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, they will square off against South Davidson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
