I Sunrise - Northeast recap Oct. 3, 2012
Las Vegas's Andrew Moreland recorded the longest rushing play in I Sunrise - Northeast this season in his game against Foothill last week. Moreland ran for 78 yards on the play and finished with 221 on the day as his team beat the Falcons.
Silverado was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Del Sol 40-14. The Skyhawks came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 33 last week.
Marquise Edward and Alex Cater gave Silverado a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Edward threw for 80 yards and two touchdowns, while Cater ran for 274 yards. Teammate Alek Aragon added to the ground attack by rushing for 35 yards.
Joshua Mayfield was the best wideout in the league this week as Las Vegas defeated Foothill. Mayfield tallied four receptions for 90 yards. Moreland helped Las Vegas' passing attack out by catching five balls for 25 yards.
The Wildcats' Trevor Swenson and Mayfield have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Swenson has thrown for 662 yards this season, while Mayfield, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 19 catches for 236 yards. Cater from the Skyhawks leads the league in rushing with 1062 yards.
The marquee game in I Sunrise - Northeast this week will be the clash between Canyon Springs and Silverado. The Pioneers enters the contest ranked eighth in the state, while the Skyhawks ranks 23rd.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Canyon Springs takes on Silverado. The Pioneers have allowed 61 points this season, while the Skyhawks have given up 90. Canyon Springs allowed 23 points last week as it lost to Liberty.
Las Vegas led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on the Falcons. Moreland in the win.
