River City Believers Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to the Austin Classical Mustangs. The Soldiers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why River City Believers Academy lost, don't look at Lukas Cox. Despite the final result, he posted 16 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. Cox has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Blake Rankin was another key player, going 5 for 12 en route to 13 points.

Even though they lost, River City Believers Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Austin Classical only posted three assists.

Austin Classical found their leader in sophomore Sheppard Hurt, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Hurt continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Marshall, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 17 points.

River City Believers Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Austin Classical, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-16.

River City Believers Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Austin Classical, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 77-38 loss against Cornerstone Christian on the 10th.
