Basketball Recap: Quemado Comes Up Short

Quemado saw some tournament action on Thursday. They fell 58-49 to the Newcomb Skyhawks. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Skyhawks 11-7 in the first quarter.

Newcomb's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Savier Thomas led the charge by going 6 for 10 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Notah, who posted 11 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Quemado's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Newcomb, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Quemado wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-45 win against Mescalero Apache on the 13th. As for Newcomb, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-53 victory against Alamo Navajo on the 13th.
