Basketball Recap: West Elk Extends Winning Streak to Four

West Elk won the last time they faced Bluestem, and Maddex Moreno did his part to make sure it happened again. The West Elk Patriots claimed a resounding 48-6 victory over the Bluestem Lions thanks in part to Moreno, who went 7 of 11 en route to 17 points and six steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of West Elk's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kase Kill, who posted four points and five steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in steals.

The win was the fourth in a row for West Elk, bringing their record for this year to 8-6. As for Bluestem, they dropped their record down to 1-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

West Elk won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something West Elk surely won't give up without a fight. Bluestem has already played their next contest (against Caney Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
