Softball Game Preview: Nixon-Smiley Mustangs vs. Goliad Tigers

The Nixon-Smiley Mustangs will challenge the Goliad Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nixon-Smiley has given up an average of 10.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Nixon-Smiley is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 12-2 to Poth.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Goliad). They never let Taft get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Tuesday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Greyhounds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The win got Goliad back to even at 3-3. As for Nixon-Smiley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Nixon-Smiley took their victory against Goliad when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 12-2. Will Nixon-Smiley repeat their success, or does Goliad have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
