Baseball Recap: Gateway Charter Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gateway Charter). They were the clear victor by a 16-3 margin over the Babcock Trailblazers on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Griffins have posted since April 24, 2024.

Aidyn Jones spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Gateway Charter is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Brandon Lackwood was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Edilson Alvarez was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Gateway Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Gateway Charter's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5. As for Babcock, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gateway Charter will square off against Evangelical Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Babcock, they will head out on the road to square off against Gateway at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
