St. Michael hasn't had much luck against West Las Vegas recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Horsemen will challenge the Dons at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Michael's has eight straight victories, West Las Vegas has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
St. Michael's will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Robertson, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Horsemen's pitcher stepped up to hand the Cardinals a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Horsemen have won 16 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Nadia Cedillo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jaslene Ramirez was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mariella Ruiz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
St. Michael's kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, West Las Vegas didn't have quite enough to beat Robertson last Tuesday and fell 2-1.
St. Michael's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for West Las Vegas, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Michael's has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like West Las Vegas struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
St. Michael's might still be hurting after the 15-4 loss they got from West Las Vegas in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Horsemen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
