Baseball Recap: Gainesville Starts off Right with Win over Eastside

Gainesville gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over the Eastside Rams. The Hurricanes have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rams, too.

Gainesville got a big performance out of Taylor Brewer, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Dixon, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Gainesville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastside only posted an OBP of .381.

Eastside's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2-2.

Looking ahead, Gainesville will look to defend their home field on Friday against P.K. Yonge at 7:00 p.m. As for Eastside, they are taking a road trip to square off against West Port at 6:30 p.m. on February 18th.
