Recap: Tehachapi Warriors vs. West Vikings
The Tehachapi Warriors's game on Thursday was all tied up 27-27 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of West by a score of 58-56. Tehachapi was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Tehachapi's loss came despite strong showings from Devin Jackson and Karson Tiewater. Jackson dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Tiewater scored 14 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenny Pitt, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.
West's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Fred Stokes, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Stokes has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Ja' kai Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Tehachapi dropped their record down to 6-14 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for West, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing East Bakersfield the next time they take the court. Tehachapi will host the Blades at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Vikings will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
