Baseball Recap: Metro-East Lutheran Find Success

Metro-East Lutheran took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Marquette Catholic, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Explorers on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since April 1st.

Thijson Heard was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Metro-East Lutheran is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 6-7 otherwise. Heard was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Sammy Huber was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Jacob Kober was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Metro-East Lutheran and bumps their season record up to 11-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Marquette Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.

Metro-East Lutheran will have a chance to go back-to-back against Marquette Catholic: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
