Centennial is 2-7 against Green Valley since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Gators at 4:00 p.m. Centennial will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Centennial is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Liberty, who was ranked ninth at the time (Centennial was ranked fifth). The Bulldogs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Patriots on Tuesday, sneaking past 9-8. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by just one run.
Madden Turner was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Valeria Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Centennial hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 10-4 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Green Valley got the win against Basic on Thursday by a conclusive 17-7. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won 13 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Lyla Baxter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauryn Galvin, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Green Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Centennial, their win bumped their record up to 15-11.
Green Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Centennial has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game.
