Preview: East Liverpool Potters vs. Weir Red Riders
East Liverpool is 1-7 against Weir since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The East Liverpool Potters are on the road again and play against the Weir Red Riders at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, East Liverpool made easy work of Oak Glen and carried off a 40-20 win. The win was all the more spectacular given East Liverpool's disadvantage in MaxPreps's football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 432nd in Ohio, while Oak Glen is ranked 81st in West Virginia).
Gavin Wright had an outrageously good game as he threw for 240 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Quitin Conrad also helped out with an impressive 97 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Weir got themselves on the board against Albert Gallatin on Friday, but Albert Gallatin never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 34-0 win over the Colonials on the road. Weir pushed the score to 28-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Albert Gallatin had little chance of recovering from.
Their wins bumped East Liverpool to 6-3 and Weir to 7-1.
East Liverpool suffered a grim 27-7 defeat to Weir in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can East Liverpool avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
