Softball Recap: Jennings County Has No Trouble Against Madison

Jennings County won the last time they faced Madison and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Panthers blew past the Cubs 8-2.

Audrey McDonald looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maycie Ward was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Riley Byford was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Jennings County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 6-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Jennings County pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Madison, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Jennings County will square off against Floyd Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Madison, they will take on Henryville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
