Softball Game Preview: Hinsdale Central Red Devils vs. Sandburg Eagles

The Hinsdale Central Red Devils are taking a road trip to challenge the Sandburg Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hinsdale Central is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Oak Park-River Forest hit Hinsdale Central with a four-run seventh inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils came up short against the Huskies, falling 8-1.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sandburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They skirted past Lincoln-Way West 2-1.

Sandburg pushed their record up to 17-14 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hinsdale Central, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Hinsdale Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Sandburg in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 12-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
