Basketball Recap: Coram Deo Academy Starts Season with Win Against Galesburg Christian

Coram Deo Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They managed a 38-34 win over the Galesburg Christian Lions.

Coram Deo Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Peyton Peterson led the charge by shooting 42% from the field en route to 14 points along with five assists and five boards. Another player making a difference was Kailey Booher, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maddy Peterson, who posted six points and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylie Mayfield, who earned 11 points and five steals.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Coram Deo Academy will venture away from home to face off against East Moline Christian at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Galesburg Christian, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Faith Christian at 5:00 p.m. on the 25th.
