Basketball Recap: East Alton-Wood River Takes a Loss

East Alton-Wood River played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 69-40 loss at the hands of the Roxana Shells. The loss continues a trend for the Oilers in their matchups with the Shells: they've now lost five in a row.

Roxana's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keelan Crawford, who went 6 of 8 en route to 15 points. That's the most points Crawford has posted since back in November of 2024. Nick Miles also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

East Alton-Wood River's defeat dropped their record down to 2-24. As for Roxana, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-14.

East Alton-Wood River and Roxana could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. East Alton-Wood River (ranked 650th) will meet Civic Memorial (ranked 167th) at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Roxana will challenge West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday down 163 places (320 vs. 157).
