Softball Recap: Terry Sanford Bulldogs vs. Pine Forest Trojans
Terry Sanford had lost eight straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-12 to make it nine. They lost 16-1 to the Pine Forest Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-0 defeat on Friday.
As for Pine Forest, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.
For Pine Forest's part, Aaliyah Roche made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, Roche posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Pine Forest let Mya Harris and Gracie Miller run wild. Harris got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Miller went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four runs gave Harris a new career-high. Alyssa Vargas was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI.
