Football Recap: Smethport Hubbers vs. Cameron County Raiders
Smethport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 29-7 to the Cameron County Raiders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hubbers of the 14-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.
Smethport's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged four passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Owen Rounsville and Ian Fitzsimmons. The dominant performance gave Rounsville a new career-high in rushing yards.
Cameron County was led to victory by Malakai Zucal and Koby Shepard. Zucal rushed for 195 yards while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, while Shepard picked up 89 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Zucal's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 195 rushing yards dating back to last season.

They'll take on Coudersport at 7:00 p.m. on September 27th. As for Cameron County, they will head out on the road to face off against Otto-Eldred/Oswayo Valley at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Cameron County focused on turnovers this week as team gave up six on Friday.
