Basketball Recap: Maple Valley Raiders vs. Richland Colts
The Maple Valley Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 55-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Richland. Maple Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colts apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Richland was led to victory by Nick Mjoness and Casyn Syvertsen. Mjoness scored 20 points, while Syvertsen dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Syvertsen has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nick Wulfekuhle, who scored four points.
Maple Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Richland, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.
Maple Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Richland, they will head out on the road to take on the Bison at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Barnes County North co-op [North Central/Wimbledon-Courtenay] will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
