Softball Game Preview: Langley Saxons vs. Yorktown Patriots

The Langley Saxons will square off against the Yorktown Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Langley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

On Monday, Langley was able to grind out a solid win over Lake Braddock, taking the game 4-1.

Norah Jacques made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run.

In other pitching news, Langley got a great performance from Jaina Fitzpatrick as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, Fitzpatrick posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.

Jacques wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Juliet Sayers, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Yorktown didn't have quite enough to beat West Springfield on Wednesday and fell 7-5.

Langley pushed their record up to 11-5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Yorktown, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
