Baseball Recap: Bruton Comes Up Short

Bruton made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Jamestown, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 11-9 on Friday. The Panthers' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row.

Ty Yates led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. William Muller was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Bruton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Jamestown, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Bruton and Jamestown could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 308th) will meet Poquoson (ranked 139th) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Jamestown will take on New Kent at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (197 vs. 22).
