Basketball Recap: Doral Academy Red Rock Takes a Loss

Doral Academy Red Rock lost against Rancho back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Doral Academy Red Rock Dragons fell 51-43 to the Rancho Rams. The Dragons' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

Despite the loss, Doral Academy Red Rock saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jasmine Southerland posted 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Southerland has scored all season.

Rancho's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taylor Dagons, who put up 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Claudia Vargas-Arellano, who earned 13 points.

Doral Academy Red Rock's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Rancho, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Doral Academy Red Rock didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-24 loss against Green Valley on the 29th. Rancho has also already played their next match, a 63-38 defeat against Sierra Vista on the 29th.
