Basketball Game Preview: Santaluces Chiefs vs. Vero Beach Indians

The Santaluces Chiefs will be taking part in a tournament against the Vero Beach Indians on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Santaluces barely beat Riviera Beach Preparatory and Achievement Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chiefs blew past the Gladiators, posting a 67-21 victory.

Meanwhile, Vero Beach put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Bayside 78-62.

Vero Beach's win came from a few key players Santaluces will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Preston Collier, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andre Ferguson, who shot 42% from the field en route to 12 points along with seven boards and three steals.

The win got Santaluces back to even at 1-1. As for Vero Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Santaluces opened the new year with a less-than-successful 71-61 defeat to Vero Beach. Thankfully for the Chiefs, Javian Cuff (who went 8-for-14 on his way to 27 points and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
