Baseball Recap: Riverdale Comes Up Short

If Riverdale was feeling good fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Arlington last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Falcons took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buckeye Central Bucks on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 6-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2021.

Evan Reiter made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Riverdale's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-3 (and 2-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kydin Reed, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Riverdale has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Buckeye Central, the win snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 11-13 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverdale will host Ridgemont at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Buckeye Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lucas at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
