League recap: Salem tops Northside to extend winning streak

Salem extended the longest winning streak in AA River Ridge this week by beating Northside, 16-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Spartans.

Blacksburg moved up to 194 from 271 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 11-0 win over Lord Botetourt helped the Bruins improve their standing.

Hidden Valley's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Titans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nic Ratliff has thrown for 412 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Jake Kite has 12 catches for 198 yards. Walker Brand leads the league in rushing with 202 yards.

Salem was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Vikings 16-14. Steve Magenbauer's team came in at 20 in the state poll after placing at number 31 last week.
