            Football Recap: Corcoran Panthers vs. Strathmore Spartans        
        
		
        
        
            Corcoran had lost four straight on the road, but  on Friday they dropped down to 2-7 to make it five. They had to suffer through  a    41-6 loss at the hands of the Strathmore Spartans. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at  28-6.

 Despite the loss, Corcoran still got an impressive performance from   Justin Huerta, who rushed for 117 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Huerta has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is 2-1 when he posts  at  least  80  rushing yards, but 0-6 otherwise.
As for Strathmore, the  victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3. Considering they have won four contests by more than 34  points this season, Friday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Strathmore had a senior duo take command as  Isaiah Colunga rushed for 129 yards and one  TD on only eight carries and  Noah Pavone rushed for 140 yards and three  scores on only 12 carries. Those 140  rushing yards set a new season-high mark for  Pavone.  Dion Ambriz was another key player, picking up 46 receiving yards and a pair of  touchdowns.
 Corcoran didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  matchup,  a  55-43  win against Farmersville on the 31st. As for Strathmore, they have also already played their next game,  a  24-22  defeat against Lindsay on the 30th.
