Basketball Game Preview: Stanton County Trojans vs. Stratton Eagles

The Stanton County Trojans will take on the Stratton Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Stanton County saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They blew past Eads, posting a 75-44 win. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Stanton County had a senior duo take command as David Crane went 7-for-8 on his way to 15 points and seven assists and Gerardo Robles shot 58% from the field to rack up 17 points and five steals. The matchup was Robles' seventh in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Wilson, who posted seven points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Stratton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They snuck past Greeley County with a 56-52 win on Tuesday.

Stanton County now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Stratton, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

Stanton County and Stratton were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but Stanton County came up empty-handed after a 52-51 loss. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Eagles' Von Isenbart, who dropped a double-double with 28 points and 11 rebounds.
