Chico extended their winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from John Bernardez. The Panthers came out on top against the Elk Grove Thundering Herd by a score of 27-17 on Friday with plenty of help from Bernardez, who rushed for 115 yards and one TD on only nine carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Chico didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Chance Murphy and Jaxxon Tweedt.

Chico's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Elk Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Chico will look to defend their home field on Friday against Enterprise at 7:00 p.m. The Panthers will be up against the Hornets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.2 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Elk Grove, they will head out on the road to square off against Laguna Creek at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
