Football Game Preview: Barstow Aztecs vs. La Canada Spartans + Official Tickets

The Barstow Aztecs will square off against the La Canada Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Barstow comes in on seven and La Canada on three.

Barstow is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Serrano with a sharp 34-12 win. Considering the Aztecs have won five matchups by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for Nicholas Gaoa, who rushed for 138 yards and three TDs, and also picked up 69 receiving yards. He has been hot, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last eight times he's played. Jarvis (JJ) Applewhite was another key player, rushing for 24 yards and one score.

Barstow's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Iosefa Lealofi was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up 2.5 sacks himself.

Meanwhile, La Canada strolled past West Covina with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 30-14.

La Canada didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brandon Mohaghegh and Jackson Radabaugh.

Barstow's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for La Canada, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Barstow has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 208.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like La Canada struggles in that department as they've been averaging 235.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
