Columbia Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They put the hurt on the Wayne Academy Jaguars with a sharp 14-4 victory. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 10-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Zeke Todd and Roman Lawrence made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Todd pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lawrence tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. At bat, Todd went a perfect1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI, while Lawrence scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Simmons, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. Carson Stuart was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cougars duke it out with the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wayne Academy, they will challenge Sylva Bay Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
