Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Masconomet Regional). Their defense stepped up to hand the Winthrop Vikings a 6-0 shutout on Monday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Masconomet Regional's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts soccer rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Winthrop are ranked 147th).

The victory made it two in a row for Masconomet Regional and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matches. As for Winthrop, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
