Football Recap: Ryan Porter and Sam Themar Secure Win for Durant

Durant waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Bloomingdale Bulls as they made off with a 28-6 win. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulls, too.

A big part of Durant's victory came down to the chemistry between Sam Themar and his top target Ryan Porter. Themar rushed for 78 yards on only seven carries while Porter picked up 78 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 78 rushing yards gave Themar a new career-high.

Durant was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 207 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 84.6 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 167.3.

Durant's defense made their presence known, laying out Sammy Zelaya seven times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Bloomingdale's side was Machi Mack, who picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).

When it comes to explaining why Bloomingdale lost, don't look at Preston Beckham. Despite the final result, he rushed for 146 yards on only 14 carries. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: Beckham posted at least 104 rushing yards in the fourth games prior.

The win got Durant back to even at 4-4. As for Bloomingdale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Durant has already played their next game, a 47-30 loss against Tampa Bay Tech on the 17th. As for Bloomingdale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 42-7 victory against Robinson on the 17th.
