Baseball Recap: Coconino Panthers vs. Independence Patriots

Coconino had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Independence on Monday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 13-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Coconino let Steven Stone and Corbin Derr run wild. Stone went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Derr went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Derr is becoming a predictor of Coconino's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 5-1 (and 5-14-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Hanley, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
