Basketball Recap: Crookston Takes a Loss

Crookston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 68-41 defeat at the hands of the Perham Yellowjackets. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 113th).

Kaia Anderson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Perham, going 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Anderson's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Regan Hemberger, who posted 19 points.

Crookston's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Perham, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crookston will face off against Thief River Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Perham, they will take on Detroit Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
