Recap: Jonesboro Cardinals vs. Mundy's Mill Tigers
The Jonesboro Cardinals won the last time they faced the Mundy's Mill Tigers, and things went their way on Friday too. Jonesboro took down the Tigers 65-49. Given Jonesboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Tigers are ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jonesboro found their leader in underclassman Cortez Redding, who scored 27 points along with five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Redding has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Montez Redding, who scored 16 points.
When it comes to explaining why Mundy's Mill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dajuan Riddle. Despite the final result, he scored 27 points. Riddle continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Jonesboro pushed their record up to 12-8 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Mundy's Mill, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7.
Jonesboro will head out on the road to challenge the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alcovy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully the Cardinals likes a good challenge. As for Mundy's Mill, they will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Morrow will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
