Recap: Yorba Linda Mustangs vs. Villa Park Spartans
The Yorba Linda Mustangs missed an extra point against the Villa Park Spartans on Friday and it came back to haunt them. Yorba Linda and Villa Park were almost perfectly matched up, but Yorba Linda suffered an agonizing 34-33 loss. Yorba Linda's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Yorba Linda still got an impressive performance from Chase Jones, who rushed for 306 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Jones hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games.
Nate Lewis was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt.
Yorba Linda's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Villa Park, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yorba Linda will square off against Foothill at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Villa Park, they will head out on the road to face off against Brea Olinda at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brea Olinda will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
