Recap: St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs vs. Point Arena Pirates
The St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 41-40 win over Point Arena. That result was just more of the same for these two, as St. Vincent de Paul also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Point Arena still got an impressive performance from Fernando Lopez, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Lopez scored a full 35% of Point Arena's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Dauki Bechtol was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds.
St. Vincent de Paul pushed their record up to 8-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Point Arena, their loss dropped their record down to 5-1.
St. Vincent de Paul's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Elite at 3:30 p.m. on December 9th. Elite will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 518th, while St. Vincent de Paul is ranked 245th). Point Arena will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Clear Lake at 2:00 p.m. on December 9th.
