Lopez proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 16) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Porter Cowboys 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Lobos in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now won eight in a row.

Jenny Shank made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chalene Granado, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Lopez now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Porter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lopez is set to take on their familiar foe Donna North at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Porter will face off against rival Donna at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
