Recap: Seffner Christian Crusaders vs. Bishop Kenny Crusaders
On Friday, the Seffner Christian Crusaders faced the Bishop Kenny Crusaders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Seffner Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop Kenny and snuck past 41-38. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Seffner Christian has scored all year.
Seffner Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nevaeh Lee led the charge by scoring 11 points. Kendra Yates was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Bishop Kenny lost, one person who can't be blamed is Clare Coyle. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Coyle has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Riley Talbert, who scored seven points.
The win (which was Seffner Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 20-4. As for Bishop Kenny, their defeat ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 20-4.
Seffner Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bishop Kenny, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wolfson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bishop Kenny is coming into the contest with 24 straight losses at home, so Wolfson is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
